Description
Sweet potato is a plant grown for its tuberous roots in tropical, subtropical and warm-temperate regions. Sweet potato tubers are a staple food or an alternative food in many countries and part of the production is used for animal feeding. The starchy tubers are used as a vegetable and can be boiled, baked, fried (to make chips), dried and ground into flour to make biscuits, bread and other pastries. They can be cooked and frozen. Their very high-grade starch is appreciated for food and by the pharmaceutical industries.
